Marshall School of Pharmacy honors students, faculty, staff and alumni

The Marshall University School of Pharmacy celebrated numerous recognitions amongst its faculty, staff, students and alumni last month, including annual school awards and those presented by the West Virginia Pharmacists Association last month at its annual meeting in Morgantown.

“These accolades demonstrate the Marshall University School of Pharmacy’s commitment to innovation, leadership, service and education, highlighting our individual and collective strengths,” said Dr. Eric Blough, dean of the School of Pharmacy. “From faculty and staff to students and alumni, these honors reflect not only individual excellence but the strength of our commitment to enhancing the delivery of health care throughout West Virginia and beyond.”

The 2025 Awards from Marshall University School of Pharmacy were presented at the MUSOP 2025 Awards & Pinning Ceremony April 11 at the Memorial Student Center. Recipients included:

Dr. Nandini Manne — recipient of the Faculty Person of the Year Award, the Dean Brian Gallagher Award for Excellence in Community Outreach and/or Advocacy 2025. Manne is an associate professor and associate dean of assessment and accreditation in the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Administration, & Research. The award was presented for his impactful public health work across the Tri-State area, particularly in West Virginia. His efforts have secured over $5 million in external funding and advanced initiatives in vaccine equity, overdose prevention, and community response, solidifying his role as a leader in data-driven, community-centered health advocacy.

Dr. Tiffany Davis — recipient of the 2025 Teacher of the Year Award. She is clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Administration, & Research and was recognized for her innovative, student-centered teaching and expertise in educational theory. Her redesign of the law course and integration of legal content across the curriculum helped the school become the top-scoring school on the MPJE in West Virginia.

Hannah Osburn — recipient of the 2025 Staff Person of the Year. She is the director of marketing and recruitment in the Office of Student Affairs and was recognized for exceptional contributions to recruitment and marketing, leading to a 25% increase in PharmD enrollment, and her student-centered approach, positivity, and dedication that make her a valuable resource for prospective and current students.

Dr. Benjamin Fredrick — named the 2025 Alumni of the Year. He is a member of the Marshall University School of Pharmacy Class of 2017 and was recognized for his leadership in nuclear pharmacy at Blue Ridge Isotopes, his work in PET and SPECT imaging, his dedication to patient care and his mentorship of Marshall pharmacy students.

The 2025 recipients of awards from WVPA were:

Julia Galloway-Fanelli — named the 2025 Marshall Student Pharmacist of the Year by the WVPA for outstanding leadership in organizing events, including the Women’s Health Fair, and for contributions multiple organizations while balancing academics and motherhood and demonstrating dedication to pharmacy and support of others to make a lasting impact on the MUSOP community and inspire future pharmacy leaders in West Virginia.

Dr. Thomas Pile — appointed to the 2025-26 Board of Directors. Pile is the associate director of Experiential Learning and clinical assistant professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Administration, & Research and was appointed for his leadership and commitment to advancing pharmacy education and practice and making a significant impact both on Marshall’s campus and the state.

Dr. Megan Mellert — appointed to the 2025-26 Board of Directors. Mellert is a member of Marshall’s Class of 2016 and was appointed to the WVPA board for her leadership and dedication to advancing pharmacy practice.

Marshall’s Women’s Center & Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program presented the Women of Marshall Awards April 17 at Drinko Library, honoring women who make a positive impact on campus, including:

Dr. Cynthia Jones — recipient of the 2025 Unity in Action Award. Jones is an associate professor with the School of Pharmacy and was honored for exceptional contributions to gender equity, social justice and inclusive education. As an associate professor at the School of Pharmacy, she is recognized for mentoring underrepresented students, leading empowerment initiatives and advancing research in biopharmaceutics and inclusive practices.
