“This was a thorough and highly competitive search for a critical leadership position at Marshall,” said President Brad D. Smith. “I’m deeply appreciative of the search committee’s efforts, led by Dean Robert Bookwalter and Provost Dr. Avi Mukherjee, as well as the contributions of colleagues across campus who helped guide us to the right choice. Dr. Bradley brings a dynamic vision and renewed enthusiasm to our university, and we look forward to the impactful leadership she will provide.”
Mukherjee said the selection of Bradley is a testament to the strength of the university’s reputation and the exciting opportunities ahead.
“Dr. Bradley brings a compelling vision for educational innovation, a deep commitment to preparing future educators and a proven record of transformative leadership at the institutions she has previously served,” Mukherjee said. “I am confident that under her guidance, the College of Education will continue to grow its impact on schools and communities locally, nationally, and beyond.”
Bradley has more than 20 years of academic experience as a scholar, educator and leader in higher education. At the University of Kentucky, she served as chair of the Department of Educational Policy Studies and Evaluation and program chair for Research Methods in Education. A specialist in quantitative methods, psychometrics, educational evaluation and interdisciplinary research, Dr. Bradley has led initiatives supported by the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education and other federal and state agencies. As Co-Principal Investigator for the KY-WV LSAMP Alliance, she partnered with Marshall University and other institutions to broaden participation in STEM fields and expand undergraduate research opportunities. Her leadership has advanced curriculum reform, faculty development, enrollment growth, accreditation readiness, and the implementation of evidence-based teaching practices, strengthening academic excellence and student success.
A native of Ravenswood, West Virginia, Bradley said she is thrilled to return to the Mountain State.
“Coming home to West Virginia and to Marshall is personal for me,” she said. “Education changed my life. It’s been my purpose and passion, and I’m honored to serve the state and the people who shaped who I am.”
Bradley earned degrees in mathematics, sociology and math education from Fairmont State University, an M.S. in Statistics from the University of South Carolina, and a Ph.D. in Quantitative Research, Evaluation, and Measurement from The Ohio State University. She has chaired key university committees and served on the Kentucky Governor’s School Curriculum, Assessment, and Accountability Council. Recognized for excellence in teaching, mentorship, and service, she was recently awarded the 2025 University of Kentucky Provost’s Award for Outstanding Teaching.
She is married to Will Bradley, also from Ravenswood, and they have three adult children.
Dr. Teresa Eagle, who has served as dean of the College of Education and Professional Development since 2013, will postpone her retirement until Bradley joins the university in September.
