About
Dr. Jessica Snitko is an Assistant Professor of Strategic Communication in the Department of Communication Studies at Marshall University. She earned her Ph.D. from Purdue University in 2020. Her scholarship centers on two main areas: pedagogy and science communication. In her teaching-focused research, she examines strategies for enhancing student experiences in introductory general education courses. Her science communication research explores how people engage with complex topics in online spaces and how these interactions influence public perceptions in offline contexts. Recently, she has collaborated with medical professionals to strengthen communication in healthcare settings. Dr. Snitko is passionate about the power of strategic communication to shape daily life and create meaningful change. She lives in Ashland, Kentucky, with her partner and their dog, Kodak. Her favorite things (in no particular order) include roller coasters, traveling, books with unexpected plot twists, animals, and magic tricks.
