Biography
Dr. Huanshu Yuan is an Assistant Professor in the Curriculum & Instruction Department at Marshall University, where she teaches graduate and doctoral courses in curriculum theories, sociocultural foundation of curriculum and education, bilingual and ESL education, and qualitative research in education. Dr. Yuan supports students through collaborative teaching and research, advising and mentorship, and dissertation research.
Her research and scholarly interests focus on curriculum theories, higher education policy, student affairs administration in higher education, teacher preparation and teacher education, second language acquisition, comparative and international education, and qualitative methodologies. Dr. Yuan serves on the editorial board for Journal of Research in Education and serves as conference proposal reviewer for American Educational Research Association, American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, Comparative and International Education Society, TESOL International Convention, Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA), Mid-Western Educational Research Association, and Eastern Educational Research Association. Her work has appeared in the Journal of Comparative and International Higher Education, Asian Education Studies, International Research in Higher Education, Higher Education Studies, Journal of Education, and International Journal of Multicultural Education.
Before her role at Marshall University, Dr. Yuan served as Associate Director at Texas A&M University – College Station and as Adjunct Faculty at University of Washington – Bothell. Outside of academics, Dr. Yuan enjoys being outdoors, watercolor painting, and playing piano.
