Program Description

The job of Marketing is to get and keep customers by determining and satisfying customer needs and wants in a diverse market. This is done by making sure the company has the right products and/or services and that these are correctly promoted, distributed, and priced. The B.B.A. in Marketing prepares you to professionally carry out these responsibilities.

Students who graduate with a B.B.A. in Marketing will develop the following skills:

• Critical thinking skills

• Selling skills – product, price, promotion and distribution tools
• Market and distribution research
• Quantitative and qualitative analysis of market data
• Development, analysis, and modification of marketing plans and strategy

Note: Marketing majors must also take MKT 371 International Marketing as the International Business Elective and take MKT 231 Principles of Selling.

*Marketing Electives – MKT Electives can be any 300 or 400 level MKT courses not already required MGT 420, MGT 428, or ENT 360. MKT 231 and MKT 371 may not count towards a MKT elective.

Digital Marketing Area of Emphasis

In place of some or all of the electives in the major for the B.B.A. in Marketing, students may choose an emphasis in Digital Marketing and Analytics, as follows:

• MKT 435 Internet Marketing
• MKT 400 Social Media Marketing
• MKT 425 Marketing Analytics
• DMA elective*- 3 hours

* Digital MKT & Analytics Electives – MKT 430, MKT 344, JMC 241, JMC 383, MIS 300, MIS 340, MIS 350, or MIS 360.

Sales Area of Emphasis

In place of some or all of the electives in the major for the B.B.A. in Marketing, students may choose an emphasis in Sales, as follows:

• MKT 375 Business to Business Marketing
• MKT 440 Sales Management
• Sales electives*- 6 hours

*Sales Electives- MKT 414, 445, MGT 428, JMC 390, CMM 302, 308. CMM 302 and 308 may not count as both a CMM Elective and Sales Elective
